One costly mistake denies Fabien and Denis a place on the European championship podium in double canoe (C2). With a four second penalty, the Duo finishes 5th. Denis picks up a bronze medal with with Tony Estanguet and Nicolas Peschier when France finishes third in the C1 team competition.

After failing to make the K1 cut at the European championships in Bratislava, Fabien is philosophical. Despite this weekend’s setback, he’s confident that the Duo’s Olympic challenge is still on track. He explains why.

For Fabien, Friday 13th lives up to its reputation at the rescheduled 2010 European championships in Bratislava. A couple of bad runs in the single kayak (K1) qualifying round and he misses the cut. Denis reaches the single canoe (C1) semis, the Duo qualifies in double canoe (C2) and, with Friday 13th behind him, Fabien is hoping his luck will change!

Denis, fresh from winning the European U23 single canoe (C1) slalom title, tries to put his victory out of his head and focuses on easing a niggling back pain ahead of this weekend’s senior European championships. His win in Germany was the first French European title in C1.
