The Hawa, the Duo’s New C2
Fabien and Denis prepare to line up against the world’s best whitewater slalomers in the 2011 Australian Open, an ideal opportunity to test their new double canoe (C2). The Duo have named the boat the Hawa – the Hindi and Arabic word for the wind.
Back on the water…
Fabien, Denis and the rest of the French team were back on the water in October at a pre-season training camp in Bratislava, venue of the 2011 world championships. Here’s a recap of that and other highlights from the month and a half that have elapsed since the end of the 2010 season.
Denis savours his best year yet
Just 23, Denis enjoys the best season of his short career with five trail-blazing medals in two boats, including a team gold and a silver in double canoe with Fabien at the world championships and a European U23 single canoe (C1) title. He in turn imagines the podiums of his season’s highs and lows.

Fabien reflects on an historic triple
Fabien’s season began with an injury. It ended with an unprecedented triple medal haul in two boats at the world championships in Tacen. As he takes time out to reflect on the lessons learned, he imagines the podium of the season’s highs and the podium of its lows.

Time for a break…
Fabien and Denis are taking a month off (training!) after a busy year crowned by a clutch of world championship medals, including a team gold and a silver in double canoe (C2). They’ll be back on the water in October… for what will be a critical season in their quest for three Olympic medals in London in 2012.
